Zebra Music Festival: Bands, beer and bikinis on Shanghai beach
Peel those sticky thighs off that hot leather couch and hit this summer's coolest beach music party
Fans went wild at last year's Zebra Music Festival in Chengdu. Now the festival comes to Shanghai, so get your bikinis and sunscreen ready.Most of you won't need to read the rest of this article because the words "beach" and "party" are enough to get you booking with this festival days in advance. But for those who still need convincing, read on.
Founded in Chengdu three years ago, Zebra Musical Festival (ZMF) will hit Shanghai for the first time this summer.
The festival will take place on August 12-14 at Jinshan City Beach, about 50 minutes by road from downtown Shanghai.
The beauty of the festival is the mixed talent, with local Shanghai bands -- such as Top Floor Circus and Pink Berry -- playing alongside Hong Kong mega stars, such as Edison Chen.

For the first time, ZMF lines up international bands, including Mix Market from Japan, Montée from Norway and Rataxes from Sweden.
British super producer Steve Lilywhite (of U2, the Rolling Stones and Morrissey fame) will also be partying and getting firsthand pick of local up-and-coming bands worthy of producing.
There will be plenty of activities to cool down or heat up between sets: a bikini contest, beach sports, an on-site amusement park, beer drinking contests, a fashion show, installation art, camping and a special Chinese Valentine's Day (August 6) celebration.

With the theme “Love+Water,” ZMF organizers are working closely with NGOs and artists to promote a water conservation message throughout the festival.
"For this campaign, artist Fan Yichen (范逸臣) will be the spokesperson, and he and other performing artists will sign the official watches," explained Scarlett Lee, CEO of the Zebra Music Festival.
"The watches will then be auctioned during the festival, and all the proceeds will go to Nature Foundation’s Water Conservation Project," Lee adds.
