What would you like in your stocking this year in Shanghai? In my stocking this year I would like a heated bicycle lock to spread some Christmas warmth and forget how cold it gets here.
How will you be celebrating Christmas this year? I will be celebrating Christmas this year with my English "family" in Shanghai -- five or six of us strays having a sleepover with stockings, Mass, mince pies, sherry, goose, stuffing, a Bond film and The Queen's speech at one in the morning. I expect I'll be in the role of snorey grumpy grandpa who gives inappropriate presents.

What would you like in your stocking this year in Shanghai? A plane ticket for my mother to visit Shanghai for the first time. I've spent two years in Shanghai and I wanted her to come her to meet all the friends that I've made here.

What would you like in your stocking this year in Shanghai? I would love to find an intelligent, funny, kind, gorgeous, single man in my stocking. Why? Because I have been unable to find one anywhere else and it's cold in Shanghai!
How will you be celebrating Christmas this year? To celebrate Christmas I'm going to eat as much Peking Duck as possible and adopt a kitten in need of a home. Then it's back to my place to enjoy Christmas music and movies while sipping hot chocolate, eating homemade Christmas treats and enjoying the company of a new kitten, friends and, if I'm lucky, the perfect man from my stocking.

Where is the best place to celebrate Christmas in Shanghai? The best place to celebrate Christmas in Shanghai -- or anywhere -- is always in the company of close friends and family wherever that may be (at home or a warm pub).

What would you like in your stocking this year in Shanghai? I would really love to have a faster internet connection to watch streaming videos, and access to all the regular websites that China has blocked like YouTube and Facebook.
Where is the best place to celebrate Christmas in Shanghai? There are two places. First is Xintinadi on the weekends. Last year they had a different Christmas themed performance each weekend evening in December. The other place is Boxing Cat Brewery in Minhang. They had an amazing Christmas Eve dinner last year that was well worth the taxi, and the staff was overly generous.

Where is the best place to celebrate Christmas in Shanghai? A warm, dry, cozy apartment stocked with plenty of good wine and yummy food -- if you can find one. If not, huddled for warmth with your four best friends chowing down at a hot pot restaurant.
How will you be celebrating Christmas this year? Spending several glorious uninterrupted weeks with my lovely wife in Hangzhou.

What would you like in your stocking this year in Shanghai? A nice new apartment. It might not fit in a stocking, but maybe I can put the stocking in the new apartment. Why? Because I am technically homeless at the moment.
Where is the best place to celebrate Christmas in Shanghai? This will be the first Christmas I've spent in Shanghai. Last year I spent it walking the Great Wall -- probably one of the best Christmas experiences ever! This year, maybe I'll spend it snuggled up in a new apartment watching "Scrooged" with Bill Murray.
