Travelers delight: Metro Line 2 to Hongqiao Airport runs when we want it to

Your flight out of (or into) Hongqiao airport just got a bit easier with Shanghai Metro Line 2 now connecting to the transport hub
One of the new Shanghai Metro Line 2 stations -- enjoy the photo, it'll be the last time you see this station without the traveling masses jockeying for position.

If you ever find yourself flying out of Hongqiao Airport, you need to know this: starting today, March 16, Shanghai Metro Line 2 will open its extended connection to this new, massive transportation hub.

ExploreMetro (they’ve just updated their Shanghai Metro map as well) reports that the extension runs through Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2, Hongqiao Railway Station (not open yet) and ends at the East Xujing.

Unlike the recently opened Line 7, which ran on limited hours for the first few weeks of its operational debut much to the chagrin of users, trains to Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 are jumping right in and running from 5:35am to 10:50pm -- times that put many other city lines to shame.

The new train will service Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 (the new one) where 90 percent of the flights into Hongqiao will be landing according to blogger Wang Jianshuo. If you’re one of the less fortunate 10 percent, you’ll need to take a shuttle from T2 to T1 until Shanghai Metro Line 10 opens in October.
