TIME magazine thanks Chinese workers for doing their part in saving the world economy by honoring them with the publication’s highest honor.
Must know: Smoking might be going the way of the Qing dynasty as government officials announce that Beijing will pass a new law in 2010 that will completely ban smoking indoors. Will Shanghai be next?

Must know: Ben Bernanke might have taken TIME magazine’s Person of the Year top spot, but coming in a close second are the tens of millions of Chinese workers for their part in saving the world economy. The people who wrote China's stimulus plan didn't seem to make the photo spread.

Must know: City Weekend, on of the city’s long-standing entertainment magazine, is stepping up to the plate and revamping, standardizing and making public their restaurant rating criteria. It's about time -- good work guys.

Must call: Have an issue with a fake or low-quality product in Shanghai? Now you can complain in English to the Shanghai Breau of Quality and Technical Supervision. Call +86 21 12365. Just remember, no, they don’t want to know about the DVD you bought last night.

Must (not) buy: Even authorities in the land of shanzhai, have their limits. About 4,000 unauthorized Expo 2010 products were confiscated by law enforcement regulators last month in a crackdown on unlicensed Expo products.

Must buy: Someone thought Jing’an was in need of another mall. Really? Opening in time for Chinese New Year is Yueda 889 Plaza, a seven-floor shopping center located at 889 Wanhangdu Lu, near Changshou Lu. Bonus: It will have mini-golf.
