One of the world’s best late-night dining spots is in Shanghai
Travel + Leisure recently released an article on the world’s best late night dining spots with international chefs dishing on their favorite locales for late-night bites. Thankfully (although surprisingly) Shanghai wasn’t overlooked.
David Chang, chef/owner of Momofuku Noodle Bar, Momofuku Ko and Momofuku Ssäm Bar in New York City, gave a shout out to his favorite Shanghai (and Beijing) chain, Bellagio: “This Bellagio is not a Las Vegas hotel, but a faux-swanky Taiwanese brasserie. There are several locations in Shanghai, and they’re all open at all hours. It’s my favorite restaurant in Shanghai -- which I know is sacrilegious -- but everything is so delicious, like the pork-belly pot with egg and their weird fried breads. Don’t leave without ordering the shaved ice -- it’s a must.”
Honestly, we can’t remember the last time we ate the “real” food at Bellagio but we’ll second Chang's choice of the shaved ice. It really is a must. But is shaved ice the best late-night dining on the Shanghai streets? We’d have to disagree, but we're happy one of the world's best chefs is a fan of the Shanghai dining scene.
CNNGo tracked down three of Shanghai’s top chefs (Lam Ming Kin, Craig Willis and Paul Pairet) to get the lowdown on the truly best late-night dining haunts the city as to offer. See the article here.
