Le Cygne brings classic 1930s cuisine back to Shanghai.
Le Cygne owner and chef Larry Zhou grew up in Shanghai. In his childhood, the family had three chefs. One in particular, was chef of a famous French restaurant called Le Cygne.
The old Le Cygne was a place where many of the elite Shanghainese acquired their taste for Western food. Zhou collected all these tattered 50 and 60-year-old recipes to create a modern version of this slice of old Shanghai.
Today there is nowhere else in Shanghai to experience Western food of this era, except Le Cygne, tucked away on Jinxian Lu.
You can't go wrong ordering just about anything on the menu, but the escargots, which are roasted in butter and delicious. The steak fillet and the baked cream noodles are also a solid choice.
