Elegance isn't Jean-Georges' middle name -- but it should be,
Jean-Georges has come to Shanghai which means you can eat at one of New York’s most celebrated restaurants. And there are several convincing reasons why you must.
Jean-Georges in New York City may be a culinary paradise, but the dining room is modestly decorated -- it is practically staid compared to Jean-Georges Shanghai’s expansive 1930s-romantic dining room with its rich tones of copper-leafing, burgundy wine and indigo blue fabrics and dark wood paneling. The excesses don't stop there.
The restaurant's modern reconstructing of French cuisine is inspired and uplifted by Asian-inflections and bright infusions of vegetables and spices -- try the renowned foie gras brulee, or the red snapper with mushroom jus. You'll know what we mean after one bite.
You get all this at Jean-Georges in Shanghai for around 80 percent less than the price you pay for the same food in Manhattan (and we're not taking into account the airfare and accommodation costs), so why not indulge? Tell yourself it’s a (relative) bargain.
