El Willy
Small plates don't mean small flavor. This tapas restaurant ensures that flavor is one thing you're never lacking.

Extravagant arches, tiled floors, lavish peach and burnt orange interiors together with a peaceful bamboo garden, is some people's idea of a seriously decent Spanish restaurant. Agree or not, this is El Willy the late-1920s Spanish-styled villa which is the base from where eccentric Barcelona-born chef Willy Trullàs Moreno plies his culinary art.

And Shanghai can’t get enough.

Since opening in early 2008, El Willy’s feisty fusion of modern Spanish and Mediterranean cuisines have been ‘reservations only’ come dinner hour.

The restaurant’s loved for its ability to serve delicious meals time and time again (a rare thing in Shanghai these days) and the large menu that keeps you coming back to try more dishes. Highlights are the lentils stewed with chorizo, a 36-month-old Iberian ham and the cuttlefish and squid ink paella.

Opt for a table in El Willy’s garden on a balmy day.
