Mint reopens as Ming

Shanghai's former nightlife hub reopens, but will it be able to take back the spotlight?
MingWill this party be hot or will it go up in flames?

For anyone in Shanghai less than three year, to them "Mint" should be written as "M1NT." This was not always so.

Three years ago one of the nightlife’s reigning royalty was Mint, located on Tongren Lu off Beijing Lu, just a hop, skip and a jump away from Malone’s and the cool pints at The Spot. With a killer ladies night and an LGBT-friendly vibe, it was worth staying in Jing’an for.

This Friday, Ming is opening in the old Mint location. Billed by some as the re-opening of the old Mint, City Moment’s Lee Lam promises it’ll have “a classy new design, affordable drinks, and a pretty surprising (but cool if you think about it) musical concept: Hip-hop during normal hours, and then an after hours party ran by DJ Steven Lorenz.”

We’re not sure what’s left of the old club other than its address, but we’re happy to welcome another venue to Jing’an.
