The Jue Festival is back -- or it will be in March

For those who missed this year’s event, you can sleep easy, Split Works has announce that the 2010 Jue Festival is on.

Jue is one of Shanghai’s few festivals that has survived the Ministry of Culture crack down.

Instead of one massive event, Jue is a community-driven, urban festival celebrating China's arts scenes.

Next year’s event will take place from March 10-28 (coinciding with the Shanghai International Literary Festival), and is promising a “showcase up-and-coming local and international artists of all stripes, from punk rockers to sculptors to electro DJs to playwrights and everything in between,” according to the recent Split Works press release. But no line-up has been announced as yet.

To give you an idea of what to expect, the last Jue featured 25 events, 91 participating artists, and over 12,000 attendees. Next year it can only get bigger.
