Architects visit Whanki Museum to study the building's unique structure.
Located at the foot of Bukak-san, the Whanki Museum is an art museum with exceptional architecture.
The museum was founded by Hyangan Kim in 1993 to commemorate her husband Whanki Kim and his art. As one of the first generation of abstract artists from Korea, Whanki Kim is renowned in Korea, Paris and New York for his distinctive artistic lyricism expressed through the formative arts.
Along with the works of Whanki Kim, the museum also exhibits other aspiring artists and hosts educational events.
The building itself was designed by Kyuseung Woo, whose work has been reviewed by numerous architectural publications. He won the Ho Am Prize in the Arts in 2008. Thus, not only is the Whanki Museum a host of the arts, but it is also a work of art itself.
