Korean budget airlines ring in the lunar new year with dirt-cheap flights to Jeju Island

Jeju Air offers cut-price flights, Air Busan hosts "1+1 event"
Cheap weekend getaways to Korea's most popular island herald a great start to the lunar new year.

Consider this a timely addendum to our article on how to travel to Jeju Island on a dime.

As a special lunar new year sale, Korean budget carrier Jeju Air announced today that it will be offering flights from major Korean cities to Jeju Island for ₩10,000 (approximately US$8) each.

The sale is in commemoration of the airline’s seventh anniversary.

The discount tickets will be capped at 700 first-come, first-served customers per day and can be bought via the Jeju Air homepage.

The event will run from February 1-7 and will apply to flights from Gimpo, Busan, Cheongju.

Of course, fuel surcharges and airport charges are not included (that’ll be the day), which means the total fee saved on tickets rings up to approximately ₩50,000 total.

Air Busan
Air Busan was deemed "A Safe and Excellent Airline" by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs in 2011.
Air Busan is also holding a similar sale which kicks off today.

The airline’s "1+1 event," offers two flights for ₩29,000.

Tickets can be bought online from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. every day until January 13 and applies to Busan-Jeju and Gimpo-Jeju routes.

“Foreigners living in Korea can also take advantage of the event,” said an Air Busan representative.

Again, fuel surcharges and airport charges not included.
