Underground Foreign Bookshop
The Underground Foreign Bookshop might be small, but its crammed full with great reads.

Seoul's Underground Foreign Bookshop, arguably the smallest of its kind in the city, is hidden away from street view in the Seoul Plaza Underground Shopping Center.

The shop has been in business since 1982. Lee Ho-ryong, its current owner, is a self-professed bookworm who patronized the Underground Foreign Bookshop regularly for 17 years before taking over the business in 2003. The affable Lee is always ready to chat about books and give recommendations.

Because of the limited space, books are stored in towering piles in every corner of the small room. Adding to the chaos at the Underground Foreign Bookshop are heaps of black vinyl records, which Lee will gladly give a spin upon request.
