Korea gets Zazzled

American DIY online retailer launches Korean language site
ZazzleZazzle's Korean launch is the company's second in Asia.

Seoulites who have always dreamed of owning their own custom-made Konglish graphic T-shirts or manga iPhone cases need look no further.

American online retailer Zazzle, of customized graphic tees and mugs fame, has launched a Korean website www.zazzle.co.kr.

The Korean language site allows Korean consumers to design, buy and sell products in Zazzle’s online global marketplace.

The world’s leading platform for custom products, Zazzle gets more than 20 million monthly unique visitors worldwide. Korea is the 17th country to get its own site.

This latest expansion follows in the steps of the company’s successful Japanese launch in 2010, which saw a revenue growth of 600 percent over the course of one year.

“Our growth into Korea is a natural geographic extension of our global platform,” said Jason Kang, the vice president of marketing. “We’re excited to further expand into Asia and to tap into the country’s creativity.” Kang, who is Korean, also added that he is personally excited that his friends and family now have access to the global Zazzle consumer base.

The company is currently examining ways to tap into the local community of artists, and it will be interesting to see how Zazzle’s custom products will fare in trend-obsessed Korea, whose consumers are known to follow the luxury markets en masse.
