Korean theme parks offer Lunar New Year's discount events aimed at travelers and foreign residents

Millions of Seoulites leave the city for the provinces every Lunar New Year. This year, while they're stuck on the roads or catching up with their grandparents in Gangwondo, Korea's three major theme parks are hosting discount events targeting tourists and foreign residents looking for places to play during the holiday.

Lotte World

Enjoy a relatively empty Lotte World during the break.

The largest indoor theme park in Korea is slashing ticket prices to a flat ₩23,000 (adult prices) from the original prices of ₩40,000 for a one-day pass and ₩31,000 for an afternoon pass.

Lotte World is also holding a “Flower Festival” until March 4, with 500,000 flowers -- tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, begonias and more -- and 50 different kinds of herbs are displayed around the indoor adventure zone.

The park has also added “The Fairy of Flowers Flying Show" (꽃의 요정 플라잉 쇼), an aerial acrobatics performance, “Karma, the Four Seasons of Flowers" (카르마, 꽃의 사계), and a new “Flower Magic Castle” unit to its main parade.

Foreign travelers and residents can print out the discount coupon from the Lotte World website (www.lotteworld.com), and should bring their foreign ID with the coupon.

The price promotion starts on January 14, and continues until January 29.

Bring your Korean friends along for the ride.

From January 1 until February 5, Seoulland will host travelers and multi-cultural families for a special ticket price of ₩10,000 (original price ₩31,000).

This promotional one-day pass includes the sleigh ride, and discounts can be applied up to four people, including accompanying Korean nationals.

Present your certificate of alien registration to the ticket house, located near gate 2 of Daegongwon station, Subway Line 4.

Upcoming events include “Human Yut-nori" folk games and a family-versus-family singing contest.

Everland

Everland
Don't forget your foreign ID.

Everland, the fourth most popular theme park in the world according to Forbes.com, is also preparing a special discount price for foreign residents until January 25.

During the discount period, Everland tickets will be cut to ₩21,000 from the original ₩40,000, while tickets for Caribbean Bay, the biggest indoor and outdoor water park in the world, will be ₩18,000 instead of ₩35,000.

Coupons can be printed out from the Everland website and can be applied up to four people, including accompanying Koreans.

Foreigner ID (such as a certificate of alien registration or a passport) is required with the coupon at the Everland group ticket office (50 meters to the right of the main gate).

Visitors should check out the newly installed “Tube Lift” at Snow Buster, Everland’s sledge park, and warm up at Caribbean Bay’s spa, sauna or pools afterwards.
