Crowned by Hallasan, Korea's highest mountain at 1,950 metres, Jeju Island's scenery caused it to be chosen as a finalist for the controversial 2007 New Seven Wonders campaign launched by a Swiss-based foundation.

Jeju's subtropical climate and beaches have made the volcanic island a popular vacation destination for Koreans and foreigner tourists alike.

The weather is marked by a severe monsoon season in the summer and tends to be extremely windy all-year round, but that doesn't make it any less photogenic.
