The 13th International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships in Daegu is coming to a close this weekend, marking the end of another round of crazed sports fever, and Daegu's brief tenure as Korea's hottest travel destination.

Some 7,000 athletes, family members and foreign media flew in just for the championships, in addition to 34,000 foreign spectators, according to local committee organizers.

And as with all athletics championships, expectations were at boiling point and drama has been rampant each day.
