Author: Jessica Beaton

A borough-bred Manhattanite, Jessica Beaton got her B.A. in international relations with a concentration in gender and development economics (try fitting that one on a diploma) from Johns Hopkins University. She admits that she has an addiction to traveling and doesn’t see any problem with that. She swears that she can quit traveling any time she wants to -- but she doesn't see that happening any time soon.

After living in, wandering through and exploring the MERCOSUR countries, Thailand and India, Jessica settled down in Shanghai in August 2006 during what she still believes to be the hottest and most humid summer on record. As most Shanghailanders, she became hooked on the city, joined a dodgeball league and managed to convince two friends to move here.

Jessica has written a bi-monthly column for CosmoGirl! (no snickering) as well as freelanced for local Shanghai business magazines, and lost her mind for nearly two years while she was Senior/City Editor at City Weekend, Shanghai’s largest English-language entertainment publication.
