Swiss-hotel chain Movenpick opens in Bangalore

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, the five-star Zurich-based hospitality chain, has opened its first Indian hotel in Bangalore.

Situated close to Bangalore's International airport and its business districts, the hotel is the only five-star international hotel in India that offers guests a unique 24-hour rate stay.

Targeted at corporate travelers, it means you have the room for 24 hours from the time of check-in. Reason being, most flights from Bangalore arrive/depart either early morning or early evening. So if you check in at 2 a.m. you can keep the room till 2 a.m. the next day.

With 182 rooms, eight executive suites, and one presidential suite, guests get complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi in all rooms and public areas -- also a first for Bangalore.

Facilities highlights:

• Infinity pool and Ayurveda-inspired spa with decor based on Hindu temples. 
• A grand ballroom with a separate entrance.
• A rooftop restaurant and lounge called Perfect Sky, along with an 1920s art deco Obsidian bar and Italian restaurant called Mezzaluna.

The hotel chain has recently announced a second property in the country, the Mövenpick Dharamshala Resort & Spa, an exclusive 110-room resort in Kangra Valley due to open in 2013.

Other expansion plans for India include: Jaipur, Udaipur, Goa, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Gurgaon, Agra and Cochin.

The Bangalore hotel is running an opening offer tariff of Rs 7,500 (plus taxes) for superior rooms, with complimentary buffet breakfast, one-way airport transfer plus a complimentary car for any journey up to 10 kilometers from the hotel.
