The Taj Mahal Palace, Apollo Bunder

Overlooking the Gateway of India, the Taj hotel, with its 560 rooms, including 44 suites has one of the best stay experiences in Mumbai, intertwining traditional Indian hospitality and modern luxury, winning it many travel awards.
The hotel also has a superb mix of dining options, with 11 restaurants and lounges in its complex, including Wasabi -- one of the seven restaurants operated globally by celebrity Japanese chef Morimoto.
The Zodiac Grill was so proud of its food that the menu card did not have a price list. Guests could pay as much as they deemed fit, though that has changed now with a fixed price menu.
Nicely integrated into the complex is a shopping area full of luxury brands such as Dior and Mont Blanc.
The Taj chain has a loyalty program called the Taj Inner Circle, and is also a part of Leading Hotels of the World alliance.

Trident, Bandra Kurla Complex

Opening its doors in 2009, this 436-key hotel includes the Trident Club rooms which are as spacious as suites.
Contemporary in design, 500-odd original works of contemporary Indian art are spread throughout the hotel.
The restaurant mix caters to all sorts with four restaurants including O22, named after the city’s telephone code, has all-day dining options which include some good sushi and more than 1,500 bottles of wine in a two-story glass wine cellar.
The Trident chain has a loyalty program called the TridentPrivilege, which can be used for redemptions at the luxurious Oberoi sister hotels also.

JW Marriott, Juhu

In the neighborhood of many Bollywood stars, you may find yourself dancing next to the industry's upcoming stars at the Marriott's in-house nightclub Enigma.
You have a choice to look out for a lively Juhu Beach view from your window, or the calm of the Arabian Sea in an Ocean View room.
The Lotus Cafe, their coffee house, perhaps has the biggest Sunday brunch in Mumbai. And the Bombay Baking Company is a good place to have tea, a quick bite and a browse through the small bookshop.

Four Seasons Hotel, Worli

The panoramic view of Mumbai life passing by from one of the high-rise floors with the sea in the backdrop does justice to the central location of this hotel, with the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Phoenix Mills and Worli Seaface in striking distance.
All 202 rooms have a view -- pick one overlooking the Arabian sea or the Racecourse -- and between 36 and 55 square meters are some of the largest deluxe hotel rooms in Mumbai.
Aer lounge on the 34th floor is the highest rooftop bar in India, and has a crisp selection of food and drinks, cool lounge music and one of the best sunset views in the city.
Amongst the three restaurants, San-Qi with its Pan-Asian cuisine is one of best restaurants in town, and the buffet takes a full Sunday to walk through.

The Oberoi, Nariman Point

Frequently mentioned on the lists of the world’s best hotels and noted for its business-like service, this 287-key hotel is tastefully done in off-white shades with all the comforts and technology you need tucked into your room or suite.
A destination for eminent personalities, this hotel has played host to presidents of the United States and Bill Gates, amongst other patrons.
The restaurants are a little dull but the food is excellent, with five restaurants on the complex.
Michelin star Chef Vineet Bhatia runs Ziya, an elegant Indian speciality restaurant with a show kitchen, through which you can peep into the vast expanse of the sea.
Fenix, the all-day dining restaurant has a minimalistic look and feel and an uncluttered menu which really only offers their best.

Grand Hyatt, Santacruz

Apart from the 547 rooms, you also have the choice to check-in to one of the 147 service apartments if you are here for a long stay.
There is a jogging track on the premises, which is unique to this hotel in Mumbai.
China House is arguably the best Chinese restaurant in town and a popular nightclub for locals.
