Slump spells discounts for Mumbai's prestige hotels

Room rates at some of Mumbai's prestige hotels may not be subject to their traditional price hikes, The Economic Times reports.
The Taj, Oberoi and Leela chains are among many that have yet to decide whether to push up prices, the report said. Normally, hoteliers increase prices by 15-20 percent for the October to March season.
But the global economic crisis, swine flu fears and expected drought in India are hitting occupancy projections, according to the report.
Special packages, discounts and daily room rates are already being offered throughout the city, so our advice is to hunt around for a bargain.
Your budget may extend a lot further after all.
