No, it's not Amy Sacco’s NY and London nightclubs transplanted to Mumbai, but a home products store named after the address in which proprietor Maithili Ahluwalia grew up. And it very much reflects her diverse sensibility, as she trawls both Parisian flea markets and old Indian homes for the perfect finds, whether it’s lamp, a vase or a vintage sofa.
Located in a 19th century building, the three floors have distinct spaces, one for living and dining, another for sleeping and yet another for dressing. It could easily be mistaken for a real house rather than a store, which is part of its languid charm.
The store’s fashion line, called The Bungalow, is designed by Frenchman Mathieu Gugumus Leguillon, and is lovely, but on the pricey side. Even if you decide not to pick anything up, Bugnalow 8 is worth a visit.
