Ayesha Broacha: Illustrations of Mumbai's independent woman
If the average young working woman in Mumbai were freeze framed on any given day, this is what she would look like
By Sita Wadhwani, Mumbai Editor 9 December, 2009Ayesha Broacha is a photographer "by profession," who points her camera around at film sets and shoots for a living. But often what we find is that the projects so-called creative professionals undertake outside their jobs, is equally, if not more interesting.
Broacha has a degree in commercial art too, which her old college mate, Renu Bothra knew and asked her to draw a series of illustrations with the aim of getting the prints onto clothes, bags and footwear.
But these colorful illustrations of the average young, urban Mumbai working woman going about her day to day life, they stand on their own and in fact the clothes in comparison seem unnecessary.
The Get Arty exhibition is on till December 14. At You, Cornelian Bldg, opposite Cumballa Hill Hospital, Kemps Corner.
