A music festival at 11,500 feet -- cool, not cold

The Ladakh Confluence music fest is shaping up as a high point of summer 2009
Ladakh ConfluenceThe Ladakh Confluence wants you to jump to the music, but the altitude makes you breathless.
We’ve been jealously following the Ladakh Confluence music festival organizers on Twitter as they've headed up 11,500 feet to “crew camp.” The gang is gearing up for the four-day gig in the mountains bordering Kashmir.

Slated for August 28 to 31, the Ladakh Confluence lineup is short and super sweet, with blues band Soulmate, electro pop duo Shaa’ir + Func, tabla master Talvin Singh, Bauchklang beatboxing and the rest banging on mystic hang-drums, didgeridoos and santoors.

Despite the distant location, the Ladakh Confluence team is showing love for us here in Mumbai with on-ground ticket sales at bars around the city -- meaning we won’t have to queue like everybody else. Love it. One thing about the festival that isn't (too) high is the price. Ladakh Confluence tickets cost Rs 5,000 for all four days.
