Bijoy Jain, Monday, December 27, 7 p.m.

Architect Bijoy Jain runs a highly regarded architectural practice called Studio Mumbai.

Jain first came across Anish Kapoor’s work in 1994 at Lisson Gallery, London, and has followed it closely ever since.

His session hopes to give viewers an insight into the exploration of space through an ingenious use of materials and form.

Nancy Adajania, Wednesday, December 22, 7 p.m.

Cultural theorist and curator Nancy Adajania has lectured and written extensively on new media, public art and the transcultural condition of contemporary global art practice at numerous international venues including Documenta 11 and Documenta 12 (Kassel), Transmediale (Berlin), MuMoK and Kunsthalle Wien (Vienna), and BAK (Utrecht).

Adajania will discuss the dynamic interplay between the philosophical and the playful in Anish Kapoor’s work. She will locate his practice in the context of a vibrant transculturality, critiquing the exhausted either/or of ‘national identity’ vs ‘international location’ that snags many readings of his art.

Aveek Sen, Wednesday, January 5, 7 p.m.

Aveek Sen is senior assistant editor (editorial pages) of The Telegraph, Calcutta, and winner of the 2009 Infinity Award for Writing on Photography given by the International Center of Photography, New York.

He writes on art, literature, music and everyday life, and has studied English literature at University College, Oxford, on a Rhodes Scholarship. He was also lecturer in English at St Hilda’s College, Oxford.

His tour of the exhibition will focus on the viewers’ physical, psychological and intellectual experience of the works, and on ways of understanding these responses in relation to the artist’s own views on art, the body and the inner life. The approach we're told, will be informal and unacademic.

Register at www.anishkapoorindia.com for the guided visits. Spaces are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
