Conan O'Brien in India, speaking Hindi and he nails it -- ye hui na baat!
Conan O'Brien, beloved American comedian and talk show host, who has been off the air since January to make way for Jay Leno, makes his television comeback with a triple bang: a Twittering tribe of new followers called Team Coco, a TBS television show premiering today and a new commercial for American Express that's just gone viral on the Internet.
As part of the tremendous Twitter buzz build-up to Conan's return to late-night television in the United States, this new commercial for the credit card company was filmed a month ago over a three-day shoot in Jaipur where O'Brien, who is said to be freakishly attentive to detail, travels to India to hunt down the finest materials for curtains for his new show.
The Huffington Post and other sources report the location to be Mumbai, but we know better.
According to the Wall Street Journal, AmEx, who have previously worked with Martin Scorsese, Jerry Seinfeld and Tina Fey, paid O'Brien more than US$1 million to do the India commercial.
O'Brien's almost two million strong fan following at hashtag #conanreturns is currently the top trend on Twitter.
Mumbaikers can watch "Conan" online too, because TeamCoco.com will post full episodes the morning after they air.
Actors Tom Hanks, Jon Hamm and Michael Cera are among the guests slated to appear during the first week of O'Brien's new show, reports CNN. Musicians Jack White, Soundgarden and Fistful of Mercy are also scheduled to perform.
