What Mumbai men want from their women

In a Hindustan Times survey it turns out men are cool if you bring home the bacon but it's unacceptable if you won't or don't know how to cook it!
"More than 80 per cent of Mumbai’s men in their twenties would marry a woman who is more educated or earns more than them, but less than half would do so if the woman can’t or won’t cook," say the results from a HT-Cfore survey of 500 middle and upper- middle class men who have grown up in Mumbai.

And no the findings aren't out dated, this survey was conducted between March 3 and 6, in the run-up to International Women’s Day today.

Best quote in the article comes from Jerry Pinto, a former consulting editor with Man’s World and the author of "Surviving Women", published in 2000.

He thinks Mumbai today is "...like a talk show on feminism -- men know the right sounds to make but do not know follow it up with action,” he said. "Most men above 40 years of age were mothered badly and continue to operate as if they are kings of the universe. Change will happen only when women raise a generation of sons who are taught to be independent."
