Sachin Tendulkar joins Twitter: Good morning, god of cricket!
What 'god' looks like off duty -- tell me you don't like or understand Twitter now.Like a swarm of locusts, fans descended on the Sachin Tendulkar twitter handle over night. 25,000 of them in less than 24 hours. That's more than Shah Rukh Khan's first day on Twitter in January.
Indian cricket batsmen, national hero and of late, simply, "god," Sachin Tendulkar opened a Twitter account at 11:55 pm on Tuesday night and in less than 45 minutes had crossed a thousand followers. Granted, cricket followers were up watching the ICC Twenty20 World Cup, cuddled in bed with their laptops, but still, it's a remarkable show of love for the man whose Twitter Bio simply says "Proud Indian".
Tendulkar turned 37 this April, completing 20 years in international cricket. He doesn't play the Twenty20 format but captains the Mumbai Indians Indian Premier League team which made it to the finals of the 2010 season last month.
