TEDx Mumbai: No Easter (mental) break for Mumbai's TED class

Says the website, "TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized."

Right, so bearing this in mind they've got around 14 smart cookies lined-up to speak. Each speaker will give a presentation no longer than 18 minutes.

These include TED's usual unusual mix of people -- a white skinned Bolllywood extra, social and urban anthropology boys in thick glasses and cool t-shirts, a tiger conservationist, a bindi bearing lady demystifying Indian classical music, the first transgender to represent Asia Pacific in the UN General Assembly President’s office, and a rare type of literary scholar who can read Indian tribal language and actor Anupam Kher.

If you want to attend, it's too late. You'd have had to submit your deepest darkest secrets and your reason for why you think you're so important to urban culture, in their online application form which was due March 16. But as you all know, TED is nothing if not democratic and the event will have a live, free broadcast courtesy Clear Trip, so you can check in while on holiday.
