Coming soon! The Oberoi Group's new Trident hotel

Next month is the official launch, but we know this new property will give a much needed fillip to Mumbai's suburban hotel scene
Trident hotel Mumbai The O22 is a modern day coffee shop with sushi and wine and has total Mumbai brunch potential with its light and airy feel.

The soon-to-open Trident hotel in the glass façade-dominated Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) looks set to become a pit-stop and meeting hub in the suburb's  financial and commercial district.

Twenty minutes from the domestic airport, the 436 rooms Trident opens up for guests on December 17 2009 are decorated in a contemporary style, complete with modern Indian art and will cater mostly to the business traveller.

And hungry people like us. Three food and beverage outlets including an all-day dining option at O22 (Mumbai's telephone code) with a sushi bar and a wine tasting room; an Italian restaurant called Botticino; Maya, the Indian specialty restaurant and the Trident patisserie and delicatessen. Sounds like the Oberoi people have the Mumbai palette figured out. We're spoilt for seafoood and sushi is its finest expression, Mumbai craves pungent Italian and Indian food regularly too. Being so close to the Nasik vineyards we've also been guinea pigs to India's young vinatges so wine is a must. Throw in a shop where we can buy extra fine cheese, coffee and pastries and you've conquered us.

The extensive business and recreational facilities include a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre while the meeting and conference facilities can accommodate up to 500 people.

Reservations are now open, for stay starting from December 1. Rooms rates from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 and suites from Rs 30,000 to Rs 100,000 (plus 10 percent luxury tax.)
