Mumbai girl takes Miss India World 2010 crown

The number of girls that have stood on this podium and eventually made it big in Bollywood means the Pantaloons Femina Miss India is the most sought after beauty pageant title in the country. Hearing the girls, year after year, say that's not why they're doing this sounds more see-through than their sarongs -- and so this year the pageant is finally making its tie-up with the Hindi film industry official.

Filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah have shortlisted six finalists, from which two will be crowned Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2010 Bollywood Diva and feature in their films. The winners will be announced on May 16.

However a short-lived Bollywood career is not what this year's Miss India winner Manasvi Mamgai is after. She wants the Miss World crown.

"It all began the day I saw the blue crown on Aishwarya Rai's head. So, you can say when other girls were dreaming to become Miss India, my eyes were still set on that blue crown of Miss World. And this victory is a part of the other big journey," Mamgai says.

The judges who saw Mamgai through included tennis player Sania Mirza Malik, Olympian boxing medalist Vijender Singh, actors Shilpa Shetty and Kunal Kapoor, film director Anurag Basu, fashion designer Ritu Beri and author Chetan Bhagat.
