Indian artists choose Grover Vineyards wine

India's biggest wine exporter commissions a series of wine labels designed by top contemporary artists to celebrate two decades as a pioneering grape grower
Grover Vineyards(L to R) Karan Grover, Aman Dhall of Brindco wine importers, Karishma Grover and owner Kapil Grover.

Grover Vineyards, to celebrate their 20th anniversary, is slapping three square inches of Indian art onto its wine bottles for a series called the Art Collection. Artists Jatin Das, Paresh Maity, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Rini Dhumal and Rekha Rodwittiya dreamed up labels especially for the occasion.

Grover's is the only family owned winery in the country, headed up by Kapil Grover, with 400 acres of vineyards situated on the foothills of the Nandi Hills, on the outskirts of Bangalore. And the La Réserve, is still, in my opinion, one of the few truly drinkable Indians wines. If you have Michel Rolland, the internationally acclaimed French winemaker, on the pay roll as a consultant, that can't hurt either.

As a gift, I could imagine presenting a Jatin Das or Paresh Maity bottle to a friend I don't know particularly well, but like all the same.

The Grover Vineyards Art Collection is priced between Rs 480 and Rs 558 a bottle, for the Cabernet Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Chenin Blanc. Available at leading hotels, restaurants and retail outlets across Maharashtra.
