Harishchandrachi Factory"Harishchandrachi Factory" is India's official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2010 Oscars.

"Harishchandrachi Factory" is India's official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film at the 2010 Oscars, staving off competition from usual pretending-to-be-arty Bollywood movies. The Marathi movie is actually the story of the making of India's first film in 1913 and the life of pioneering filmmaker GD Phalke, better known as Dadasaheb Phalke.

The film is a joy ride comedy, in case you're expecting something historical and heavy but it's worth seeing because it's, a different aspect of India that will be shown to the world at the Oscars, which has nothing to do with Bollywood or "Slumdog Millionaire" though it is their historical predecessor. The film released January 22 here in Mumbai.
