Picture gallery: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in full-on Ash mode at Cannes

After becoming the first Indian actress to be part of the prestigious Cannes jury in 2003, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been a consistent feature at world cinema's annual red carpet in France.

She's there again to promote L'Oreal cosmetics as well as her upcoming Mani Ratnam film, "Raavan" (though the film will not be showing at the festival.)

In 2009 Bachchan wore an off-shoulder white Roberto Cavalli gown for the opening, and this year it's a fully embroidered tulle and mousseline gown in violet by Elie Saab which she donned for the first ceremony on May 12.

"We just wish she'd done something different with her hair," said Masala.com. "A bit too up there for our liking, though the long curls added a touch of playfulness to her otherwise sedate look."

Forget the dress, and the heavily sprayed hair -- it's the celebrity airs which make this former Miss World and her million air kisses a little cringe-worthy for Cannes.
