Bombay Electric souvenir T-shirts: 'Cos we old skool like dat
Follow Bombay Electric on Twitter for weekly updates on the cutting edge of Indian fashion design, courtesy of the shop owner Priya Kishore. The city T-shirt souvenir concept is a little worn out -- granted -- but not if it's as retro as Bombay Electric's slightly seditious nod to those of us who still feel our beloved concrete jungle sounds more Bombay than Mumbai.
It's been more than a decade since the city's official name was de-anglicized to the Marathi pronunciation "Mumbai" (in 1995) at the insistence of the Hindu nationalist Shiv Sena party who had just won the state elections at the time. But many just won't obey the new rule in their casual speak.
So if you seek a true souvenir from hip, urban Indian fashion land, one which shows you know your smart local design from your touristy Tantra T-shirt traps, then this purchase be it.
Bombay Electric T-shirts, Rs 950 each. Shop online or visit Bombay Electric, 1, Reay House, BEST Marg, Colaba; tel +91 (0) 22 2287 6276
