The city T-shirt souvenir concept is a little cheesy granted, but not if it's as retro as Bombay Electric's slightly seditious nod to those of us in the urban elite who still feel our concrete jungle sounds more Bombay than Mumbai.

It's been more than a decade since the city's official name was de-anglicized (in 1995) to the Marathi pronunciation "Mumbai" at the insistence of the Hindu nationalist Shiv Sena party who had just won the state elections at the time. But many just won't obey the new rule in their casual talk.

So if you seek a true souvenir from hip, urban Indian fashion land -- that shows you know your smart local design from your touristy Tantra T-shirt traps -- then this purchase be it.

Bombay Electric T-shirts, Rs 950 each.
