Art Stack: An open-house in-studio art show

The first Art Stack in 2008 came together spontaneously. When the mighty talented illustrator Prashant Miranda was passing through Mumbai his design school mates, Priyanka Bhasin and Anoop Patnaik (founders of Design Stack studio) decided to pool their faculties and see if anyone would BYOB to a party and buy some of their sketch books and old photos while under the influence.
Two years later Art Stack has become a much loved annual on the calendar of their friends, colleagues and clients.
"It still isn't a curated show," says Bhasin. "What's always worked is that it's a multi-media platform and a casual space. But I think next year we will have to have a concept because it's going a bit crazy!"
In the sense that crazy isn't a bad thing when you can empty the contents of your wallet for a cool piece of art.
This year, eleven artists -- all art or design school grads -- are experimenting with installations, ceramics, animation design, photography, painting and video, in the Design Stack studio which is to be found in a two level house along a little path in cozy Aram Nagar.
April 30 to May 2 at Design Stack, 33 Aram Nagar Part II, JP Road, Versova, Andheri (W); tel. +91 (0) 22 2639 9439
