'Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap': Amitabh Bachchan's failed tribute to himself

The film lacks plausibility, but mostly it just hurts to watch Bollywood's original angry young man parody himself decades later

"Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap" or, "Your Dad Must Be The Old One" (that everyday saying just doesn't come over smoothly in English) is supposed to be a tribute to the film legend that is Amitabh Bachchan.

Which is fair enough, considering what an institution that man is.

But here's the thing. Most tributes are paid to you by your admirers, your fans, the people who look up to you, your industry ... you don't pay them to yourself when you're a 68-year-old trying to recapture your glory days on screen.

Though, truth be told, the man could've gotten away with that too, if only the story was plausible. If only.

Yet --  sigh -- it isn't.
