Sight to see: Taj Mahal Palace hotel blushing
Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace hotel tower goes pink for Estée Lauder's Breast Cancer Awareness Global Landmark Illuminations initiative.Since the year 2000, hundreds of well-known landmarks around the world have been illuminated -- a pretty word for "bathed in pink lights" -- by Estée Lauder during Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) month every October.
Today, October 19, the tower wing of The Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai gets a pink wash and a party hosted by Tata Memorial Hospital's Women’s Cancer Initiative and ELLE magazine's Ogaan Cancer Foundation.
Guest of honor Poonam Sinha, wife of Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha and mother of actress Sonakshi Sinha, who lost her sister to breast cancer recently, will release hundreds of pink ribbon balloons into the sky this evening as well.
So if you're in town between 7 and 8 p.m. take a walk down the harbor to see one of Mumbai's most famous landmarks look like a festive public art piece.
The tower will be illuminated every evening for the following week.
The Peninsula hotel in Hong Kong, the Yokohama Marine Tower in Tokyo and Seoul's Chong Gye Chon are also participating in Estée Lauder's BCA Global Landmark Illuminations initiative this year.
