Google+ gets 2.8 million Indian visitors in 21 days

Second only to the United States, but India's ahead with a unique mobile feature
Google+ IndiaTo put this in perspective, India has 31 million registered users on Facebook, behind only Indonesia (36 million) and the United States (153 million).

Google+, a social networking site still in its beta phase, has notched up 20 million worldwide visitors in its first three weeks, reports industry researcher comScore.

First look at visitation data for the site that's facing off Facebook reveals that the most users (5 million) come from the network's home base in the United States.

India is Google+'s second largest market so far, with 2.8 million visitors in three weeks.

The term "visitor" is distinguished from a "registered user" who signs up for the (still invite-only) service.

Indian tech bloggers were surprised and thrilled to see that Google+ is offering an SMS updating feature exclusively to Indian Google+ users as part of its early field trial stage.

This feature enables direct updating of your Google+ profile via text message, along with the ability to receive notifications on your mobile phone as well.

Learn how to enable the Google+ SMS service.
