Watercolors of old Bandra bungalows for sale

In 2008 when artist Prashant Miranda was passing through Mumbai he got together with design school mates Priyanka Bhasin and Anoop Patnaik in their studio to see if some friends would BYOB to an impromptu party there, and maybe buy some of their sketch books and old photos while under the influence.

For the fourth installment of ART ST4CK this year, Miranda's done a beautiful series of watercolors of old homes in the neighborhood of Bandra West.

"They're testaments to our heritage, these stunning buildings that carry the nostalgia of our past, tucked away in little lanes," Miranda tells me over Skype.

"It started as an urgent need just to chronicle things, but then I began to be invited to enjoy being inside some of these homes, and to feel the soul of structures that are more than 100 years old. While I was drawing Ranwar Village a 60 or 70-year-old woman named Alice Flanagan poked her head out of the building. She offered me a cup of tea, we sat in this lovely grotto, talked and ate Bourbon biscuits."

"I feel grateful for having documented these things and drawn them," Miranda says. "At the show people told me their stories related to these Bandra buildings. Some asked me whether I would come and paint their home!"
