Trishna
Butter pepper garlic crab at Trishna is one of those typically Mumbai experiences.

Trishna may have a rather unstylish interior and service-without-a-hint-of-a-smile, but that doesn't stop fans of south Indian coastal cuisine from cramming into one small room with the craziest table turnover in town.

Arguably Mumbai's most famous seafood restaurant serves up hyderabadi dal (spicy lentils), prawns koliwada (batter-fried prawns) and pomfret hyderabadi-style (a local fish barbecued with a coating of freshly ground pepper) really fast. The idea is to get in and get out and remember to take your crab bib off before you leave.

There’s plenty there for vegetarians too (always happens when you get popular, you can't ignore all the vegetarian family relatives) but it all tastes great with a pint of local Kingfisher beer and a variety of breads like naan and neer dosa. The quality of seafood at Trishna is also safe bet, year-round.

There's just one thing. Be sure to make a reservation, Trishna is full year round. But if you ask me, it's feeling a bit jaded now. Trishna will finally succumb to the ill effects of too much hype, for far too long unless. It's needs a small touch up, like a menu redesign, is all.
