New in Mumbai: Bungalow 9, Chez Moi, Kamasutra cookies!

Bungalow 9: Outdoor restaurant in Bandra
Bungalow 9 is a pretty multi-cuisine restaurant and bar housed in a sprawling old wooden mansion that once was a tobacco factory. The space seats about 150 and is split into a leafy courtyard, rustic indoor dining area, tavern style bar and a private party room complete with high beams, wooden balcony and sloping roof. Food's a mixed a bag but the drinks are perfect. Bandra; tel. +91 (0) 22 6117 9999. Full bpb review.

Chez Moi: Faux French food
Bandra’s newest European restaurant is a predictably charming, but charming none the less, breadbox-sized cafe that seats 30. Despite its French moniker (Chez Moi means ‘my home’) -- there are few French influences on the two-page micro menu which Chef Vinod (formerly with Out of the Blue) plans to routinely change. Masaba: Post-modern sari shop
Small and unassuming, fashion designer Masaba’s Juhu store is easy to miss so look for a festive marigold-strung tree. Inside are laidback-luxe saris (starting at Rs 6,000) in deliciously rebellious color combinations, which go up fearlessly against typical shaadi outfits and more often than not, win the battle. Plus, a kiddie line, featuring super cute tutu-inspired net skirts paired with Indian weave blouses. These, we found out, can be made for grown-ups too. Just imagine your aunt’s cousin’s daughter’s face when you skip into her wedding as an Indian ballerina. Juhu; tel. +91 98212 09085. Full bpb review.

Fat Cat Cafe: Adorable Andheri dining option
We left the choice of mains at Andheri’s newest eatery up to the chef, who sent out a three-mushroom risotto and house-smoked chicken breast, two hearty dishes that redeemed the previous course’s tiny portions. Studded handsomely with flavorful mushrooms, the dark and brooding risotto had us purring with satisfaction. Chicken was tender and beautifully oaky, complimented with sides of scallion mashed potatoes and pineapple salsa. Andheri; tel. +91 (0) 6730 6936. Full bpb review.
