Café Moshe
Coffee and cheesecake in cozy in-store settings sounds tempting, but a brown paper bag to go is the way we do, or rather don't do, this cafe

A nook serving comfort food including a recommendable Philadelphia cheesecake, Café Moshe can be found in stores like the Crossword bookshop at Kemps Corner and the Fabindia crafts outlet at Kala Ghoda.

Café Moshe at Fabindia is where you take a quick break during a shopping trip in the Kala Ghoda area. Both locations can get crowded at mealtimes and on weekends, but you can take muffins, bagels or a loaf of multigrain bread to go.

If inclined to sit in the air-conditioning for a while, Chef Moshe's offerings include sandwiches, apple crumble and gooey chocolate cake, all to be washed down with a cappuccino, Darjeeling tea or lemongrass cooler.

The patisserie and the breads are certainly far from gourmet and have, over time, adapted so much to local tastes that everything tastes either sweet or soft or both.
