The back space next to the well, Theron tells me they will convert into a BBQ soon.
Café Goa, found down a little known lane in Bandra, calls to mind a Goan beach shack for two reasons: 1. the owners (Theron and Nathalie) encourage you to drink, and 2. the waiters encourage you to wait.
That said, thanks to a brick-walled terrace garden lit by dozens of candles and lanterns, in an instant you can trade the bustle of Bandra car horns for Café Goa's relaxed, cozy atmosphere.
The reviews trickling in on the Goan food (Theron’s grandmother’s recipes) and desserts a la Nathalie are mixed, but everyone brings back word of the fenito, a mojito made from Goan feni.
Happily unhealthy evenings (when they roast a whole pig), poetry nights, movie screenings, live bands and singles nights make Café Goa one of Bandra’s most welcome new places.
Now all Café Goa needs is Kings, arguably India’s best local beer, but so far sold only in Goa.
