Complete guide to Hong Kong Mid-Autumn Festival 2011

Fire dragons and the world's largest lantern light up this year's moon festival

Hong Kong Mid Autumn Festival 2011
The Mid-Autumn Festival is considered only second to Chinese New Year in importance.
Get geared up to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival Hong Kong style. While neon is the glow most associated with our city, at this time of year lanterns and fire dragons become our favorite form of light.

Brighter than most will be Victoria Park in Causeway Bay at the Lee Kum Kee Lantern Wonderland where bigger is better -- a Guinness World Record attempt with a lantern that measures 37 meters long and 14 meters wide.

In Tai Hang there will be another explosion of light and color, as the Tai Hang Fire Dragon dances its way through the streets. A part of China’s cultural heritage, the 67-meter-long smoky, flaming beast, studded with 72,000 incense sticks, will put on quite the spectacle along with 300 performers.

Lanterns and dragons will be emitting their light all over Hong Kong. Make a note of these select Mid-Autumn activities below.
