The Hyatt Regency TST returns: Same, same, but different
A more modern take on the Hyatt Regency await guests, but the hotel's new location has managed to retain its original feel, following a major refurbishment. The Hyatt Regency has finally re-opened last week at a new location on Hanoi Road.
Since closing its doors in 2006, the hotel has undergone a transformation and now features 381-rooms occupying over 20 floors on top of the soon-to-be-open K11 "art mall."
Fans of the Hyatt Regency, Tsim Sha Tsui will be glad to know that all the best of the original have been retained while the rest of it has been given a facelift. The overall feeling is that the hotel retains its original spirit, with many familiar faces amongst the staff, while the general atmosphere is more modern.
For example, the hotel's signature outlets such as the European fare serving Hugo’s, still has its heavy pine doors at the entrance reclaimed from the original venue, but the new digs are brighter and feel more spacious, with floor to ceiling windows and a high ceiling.
Chef Lo is still manning the helm at the aptly named The Chinese Restaurant, with the same reliable menu of Cantonese food, except diners can now enjoy the outdoor terrace surrounded by the atmospheric neon lights of TST.
