Art in the Park: The best reason yet to venture outside again

Kicking off with a tech-savvy tunnel installation made of recycled materials, Art in the Park is on for most of this month

Hong Kong's recent record-high levels of air pollution may have had many of us flocking back indoors, but with recent warmer temperatures hinting of summer, we're feeling the need to get out and about.

And what better reason than a day out to see some great art pieces in Hong Kong's Science Park. From now until April 25th, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC) is hosting “Art in the Park” at Hong Kong Science Park in Sha Tin, featuring local and overseas artists that combine art, technology and sustainability.

The highlight is Korean artist Ahn Pilyun’s 54-meter-long paper tunnel installation, ADAMAO. “I want this artwork to serve as a beacon, drawing attention to the challenges of disabled people, and most importantly, how science and technology can help rectify these issues and get individuals connected,” says Ahn. To understand these difficulties, Ahn has wrapped the entire inside of the tunnel with tinfoil to act as mirrors, deforming our appearances. Audio recordings of our thoughts and sensors that change lighting add to the interactive atmosphere of ADAMAO.
