project elysiumErnest Shackleton's journey to the Antarctic will be retraced by Project Elysium.
As part of the Project Elysium team, Elizabeth Quat will be the first Hong Kong woman to dive the Antarctic waters for the climate change research expedition.

The founder and chairwoman of Energy Concern Saving Alliance, Quat will be one of the photographers for Project Elysium, a ground-breaking expedition to document the vista, flora, and fauna of the Antarctic Peninsula. Nearly 60 explorers, photographers, and filmmakers from 18 countries will participate in Project Elysium. The images from the project will contrast with those recovered from the legendary exploration of the Antarctic at the beginining of last century by Ernest Shackleton

The group will set off on February 10 to document the effects of climate change on the Antarctic Peninsula where the average temperature has increased by three degrees Celsius in the last 50 years -- more than twice the world’s average and the greatest average increase in temperature over that period of any place on Earth.
