Eminent novelist Pai Hsien-yung hopes to draw younger audiences to Kun opera with “The Story of Jade Hairpin."
Hong Kong performance art lovers are in for a treat this month with the 38th Hong Kong Arts Festival, which kicks off on February 25 and runs until March 28.
The Hong Kong Arts Festivals’ impressive dance, theatre and musical lineup this year includes legendary British theatre director Steven Berkoff’s stage adaptation of the 1954 film “On the Waterfront,” Oscar-winning auteur Sam Mendes’ take on Shakespearean tragic-comedy “The Tempest,” and "Five Acts of Life: Lao She's Short Stories”, a stage tribute to the Chinese literary powerhouse. Eminent novelist Pai Hsien-yung will be directing Kun opera “The Story of Jade Hairpin,” while local productions include Fredric Mao’s “The Liasons” and Wong Wing-sze’s “The Truth About Lying.”
Tickets for the Hong Kong Arts Festival are available via Urbtix and HK Ticketing. Half of them are already gone, so step on it.
