No surprise: Facebook is more popular than anything else in Hong Kong
Hong Kong Facebook addiction, confirmed by Google. The most Googled word in Hong Kong in the first half of 2011 was "Facebook". In a list released by Google last Friday of the most searched phrases in the city, "Facebook" reigned supreme over other hot but transient topics such as the Royal Wedding and the movie "3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy."
The first local brand on the list of search terms was “TVB” and it only came in at sixth place after “Yahoo," “Google," “YouTube” and “Apple.”
The ranking suggests entertainment still comes first in Hong Kong. There were no social topics on the top 10 list.

However, in the social hot topics subcategory list, “nuclear radiation” (核輻射), “Japan earthquake” (日本地震) and “salt” (鹽) took the first, third and eighth places, indicating that the gravity of the natural disaster and its related issues were a widespread concern in Hong Kong.
Post-Japanese tsunami, salt became a hot topic when it was rumored that eating a lot of it would combat nuclear radiation from Japan.
Also on the subcategory list, “3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy” (3D 肉蒲團) took second place. The 3D soft porn flick became Hong Kong's highest-grossing 3D debut when it opened on April 14.
In the most-searched persons subcategory, the Royal Wedding dominated the list with newlweds Prince William and Kate Middleton both making the top 10. Maid of honor Pippa Middleton, whose figure inspired Facebook fan pages just hours after the wedding, took sixth place.
